Searching for the ABCC6 Substrate
PXE is caused by the absence of an unknown factor in blood called the substrate that is normally provided by ABCC6 in the liver. Identification of this substrate would potentially help create a treatment for PXE. The laboratory of The Netherlands Cancer Institute aims to find the missing factor lacking in the circulation of PXE patients that prevents pathological mineralization. In this webinar, Dr. Koen van de Wetering will describe the methods they use to search for the missing substrate in the blood of PXE patients.
