Claire Driscoll

Claire Driscoll is an accomplished technology transfer, licensing, and research collaboration professional with extensive experience in biomedical intellectual property, commercialization, and public-private partnerships. She previously served on the PXE International Board of Directors from 2003 to 2011 and now returns to support PXE International’s work in research collaboration, intellectual property stewardship, and treatment development.

Claire previously served as Director of the Technology Transfer Office at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), where she oversaw the Institute’s intramural patent and licensing portfolio and negotiated and managed research collaborations between NHGRI scientists and industry and academic partners. Before joining NHGRI, she served as a Senior Technology Development Manager at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Earlier in her career, she worked as a biologist in a National Institute of Child Health and Human Development laboratory at the National Institutes of Health.

Claire has presented widely on biomedical technology transfer, intellectual property, licensing, and research collaboration agreements, including at programs sponsored by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Association of University Technology Managers, and the Licensing Executives Society. She has also served on nonprofit and governmental advisory committees and conference planning groups related to technology transfer and licensing.

Claire holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S. in Biotechnology Studies, with an emphasis on commercialization in the life sciences sector, from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Her experience helps PXE International advance research collaborations, steward intellectual property responsibly, and move discoveries toward practical products and services for individuals and families affected by PXE.
